Glenn Becks says things that a lot of people disagree with. That shouldn’t surprise anyone! After all, he’s a political commentator and an entertainer, and has made a career out of speaking his mind, even when his views may be unpopular.
Because of some of his recent statements, however, some Mormons have wanted to make it clear to non-Mormons that Glenn Beck is not an accurate representative of all Mormons. I agree with these Mormons, but for a much different reason. After all, how could one person be an “accurate representative” of a religion that has rich and poor, conservative and liberal, young and old from essentially every country, language and culture in the world? For that reason, Glenn Beck may not be an accurate representation of who Mormons really are because we’re all unique.
However, Glenn Beck is passionate about truth. In that aspect, I would say he is representative of Mormons everywhere who seek out, study and accept the truth.
Gordon B. Hinckley, the last prophet, remarked, “This must be our great and singular message to the world. We do not offer it with boasting. We testify in humility but with gravity and absolute sincerity. We invite all, the whole earth, to listen to this account and take measure of its truth. To these we say in a spirit of love, bring with you all that you have of good and truth which you have received from whatever source, and come and let us see if we may add to it. This invitation I extend to men and women everywhere.”
